Then you should become a Red Cross trained HIV/AIDS Instructor. The training sessions are designed for a fun and relaxing learning environment. You will learn how to share facts about HIV and AIDS accurately, in a nonjudgmental manner, and sensitively with people who belong to diverse groups and communities.
The HIV/AIDS Instructor Course provides the opportunity for you to learn how to openly discuss the facts about HIV/AIDS. Red Cross-trained instructors can conduct sessions of the Basic HIV/AIDS Program in your community. Participants will also learn to help people in their community develop and practice skills, which they can use in real life situations to protect themselves and others from HIV.

A component of this program is called F.A.T.E. (Fighting AIDS Through Education). This group of volunteer students makes presentations in schools throughout the area. The peer education program teaches the volunteer high school students to present factual, up-to-date information, answer HIV/AIDS questions, build presentation skills and self-confidence. They learn age appropriate communication skills, as well as being nonjudgmental and culturally sensitive. The National Red Cross and F.A.T.E. recognize and respect the values of communities and individual schools, youth groups, and organizations we serve, and therefore work closely with them to make the presentation meet their needs.
Community and school (K-12) presentations are provided by trained HIV/AIDS Instructors or Peer Educators and are FREE.
